Final three.

These are the final and complete 3 movies. They have all been edited and changed until I felt they conveyed and looked the way I wanted them to for the most part.

With "Church Poll' my intial idea involved making a still image show movement. In order to do this I took many pictures from multiple angles. The pole itself never moved, just me. When it came to editing, I didn't want a centralized and noticable pattern, so for some of the segements of the movie I really mixed the shots up a lot. Click on the image to view the movie.

"Eye of the Hall." is my attempt at an optical illusion. With this movie I thought about simple illusions and wonder how I myself could make one. I asked myself "what type of patterns fool the mind?" The trick here is by focusing completely on the flashing numbers, you only focus a small out of your attention on the moving hallway. For this movie, I never actually moved anywhere. When editing I made it longer,to further establish the effect. Click on the image to view the movie

This video is a combination of " Tale of two Flags" and "Around the World". I wanted to make both of these video's more interesting, so what other way to do it then by combining them? I also wanted to express idea about the flags and through the "Around the World" would help a lot. I don't know how well the messege I was trying to put forth was conveyed, but thats up to the viewer! Click on the image to view the movie.

In Progress

The two video's I'm choosing to edit are "Eye of the Hall' and "Church Poll". We each video I'm work on a realitively similar idea of editing. I'm adding time and making both of the video's longer. Especially with "Church Poll", I add much more to the end. Click on the images to view the movies.

Eye of the hall.

March 12, 2007. 7:00pm
"Eye of The Hall" is my favorite video of my best five. It works almost exactly as I hoped it would when I was taking the pictures. If you stare directly into the flashing numbers it'll make you feel as if your moving down the hallway. The intersting thing about this is that when taking the pictures I never actually moved down the hallway. I stood stationary in one spot. editing this to make it longer would add to this effect. Church Pole.

March 12, 2007. 6:45pm

"Church Poll", is number four of my five best, and definately in the top two of my favorite created movies. It was my intent to make the pole move without literally making the pole move itself. I think it works really well. The pattern of pictures is noticable just enough to keep interest, but not enough to seem repettive. Making this movie longer and editing out some of the drastic position changes would help it even more. Click on the image to view the movie.

Around the World.

March 12, 2007. 6:30pm

"Around the World" is the third of my best 5. I really liked this movie a lot because it's very different from the rest of my video's. I like the feeling of choas that it gives off. The background, colors, and even the direction start to blend in together after the movement really gets started. Editing and splicing this video together with other movies and images would make this even more interesting.

Tale of two Flags.

March 12, 2007 6:05 pm
"Tale of Two Flags" is the second movie of my 5 best. It was recorded from a kneeling position below the flags, just as the sun was setting. I don't find this video to be extremely interesting, but I picked it because of it's potential. A stand alone single shot would have been profoundly more thought provoking, but I wanted to show both of the flags waving in the air. I think the movement adds elements that can't be conveyed in a sigle shot. Another reason why I choose this movie is because I believe I can mix this with other videos and images to create something that is profoundly thought provoking. Life in the Union.

March 12, 2007 6:00 pm

"Life in the Union" is the first of my 'best five' movies. With this movie I took multiple pictures at different times of th day, as you can tell by the noticable lighting changes in some of the images. I stood at the top of the stairs and took pictures all around me for five mintues at random moments of the evening. It was my intent to show "space", "volume", and "time". What's interesting about this clip is that it turns you around in circles and up and down. This provides the feelings of space and volume, but not time. Editing this clip to show time would help a lot. Click on the image to view the movie.
